Meet Mrs. Horne

Hello! My name is Kate Horne. I have been teaching at Gilford Elementary School since the fall of 2013. That year I taught fourth grade and I have been teaching third grade in the years since. I graduated from UNH with my Bachelor's in Psychology and my Master's in Elementary Education.

Teaching is a passion of mine that began to grow when I worked at a child care center as a teenager. I consider myself a lifelong learner and I hope that each one of the children in my class comes to love learning too. I believe that by teaching children how to think critically, they are better able to learn and bring deeper meaning to what they already know. I recognize that all children are unique in who they are and how they learn. I aim to support and encourage every child so that they see themselves as valuable members of the classroom community who are learning and growing.

I currently live in Hebron, NH with my husband Jesse, my son Elias, and our grey tiger cat Iris. We enjoy spending time on Newfound Lake and relaxing on our porch. When I have free time, I like taking walks, baking sweets, learning and playing board/card games, and spending time with friends and family.
